Andy's Market Report
I am going to keep it short this week, but will be back next week raring to go with a full report.
The market declined this past week which was not really much of a surprise given the recent advance. The stock market has been on a tear since it hit a 12-year low on March 9th. The S&P has gained 60.6% since the low.
Nine of the ten major sectors finished the week lower and as a result the S&P declined 0.2% for the week.
The S&P 500 (SPY), Dow (DIA), Nasdaq 100 (QQQQ) and Russell (IWM) declined 0.2%, 0.1%, 0.7% and 2.5%, respectively. For the year, the S&P 500 is up 20.2%, the Dow has advanced 13.6% and the Nasdaq is leading the way with a 36.6% gain.
Technically speaking, the major indexes had moved into a short-term overbought state coming into the week so the decline, as I stated before, was not unexpected. This is typically what occurs when the market is in an "overbought" state. Currently, on a technical basis the market is in a short-term neutral position so there really isn't an edge on a short-term basis.

Testimonial of the week
Nice Job so far! I'm standing aside during testing... Sometimes paying more is a better bargain that catching the falling piano!
Paraphrasing Helen Keller "When one of life's doors closes, another opens. Unfortunately, many people spend too much time staring at the closed door."
